| TIER ONE's Automotive Battery
Research Program provides an extensive review of the related technologies
for VRLA, NiMH, Li-Ion, NiZn, etc., applied voltages and user markets.
It defines the battery technology roadmap to serve the forthcoming
auto industries changing electrical architectures to higher voltages,
i.e. 42 Volts. The research provides in-depth review of ~ 15 battery
suppliers profiling each company's product offerings, technology approach,
patent status, key alliances and automaker design wins.
The report program also provides an in-depth engineering review
and analysis of the technologies underlying various battery types
and packaging. It further examines proposed industry standards and
regulatory issues regarding the use of newer battery chemical compositions
in large packages required for Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV) and
Electrical Vehicle (EV) designs. The program will look closely at
the underlying issues of 42 Volt systems, the real driving force
that will prevail in its adoption, the obstacles that must be resolved
and the role of 12 Volt systems as a spoiler in a high-stakes game
of survivor. It will also profile high voltage systems being adopted
in HEV and EV designs and the adoption of super capacitors.
This research program provides history and forecast data segmented
by vehicle class, automaker and battery type with supplier market
share analysis. The forecast periods are 1998 to 2006 and 2007 to
2011. A retrospective and overview is provided covering battery
demand and use in heavy truck applications. Finally, because technology
will always provide the competitive edge, patents will become a
more important factor in the development of this market. The program
provides an on-going annotated list of recent patents and technical
citations. International and regional battery conferences, symposiums,
standards meetings and regulatory issues are also covered as part
of the deliverables for this program.
